Privacy policy

At Levanta, privacy is not a legal appendix: it is a design principle. We ask for the minimum, publish only what you decide, and give special protection to data that could put you at risk.
1. What data we ask for (minimal)
To create an account: an email and a password. For your case: a display name, your story, country, city and general area. For verification: the affected building and unit, evidence (photos/documents), a proof of identity (see below) and, if you provide it, contact information. We never ask for ID documents to browse, and never ask about political or religious affiliation.
2. What is public and what is not
Public ONLY if you publish your case: display name, story, city, general area, needs, updates, your verification badge and the support methods you decide to publish. NEVER public: your exact address, your apartment or house number, your documents, your unapproved evidence, your phone numbers and your email. Verification uses your unit's exact data privately only.
3. Proof of identity
To confirm there's a real person behind a case, we ask for an ID document (national ID card, passport…) or a photo of yourself. It is PRIVATE: we keep it in private storage, only the verification team sees it (a human review) and it is never published or shared. We use it solely for that verification and keep it for the minimum time necessary; you can request its deletion through the inbox. Don't publish your ID number on your page unless a payment method requires it.
4. Photos and metadata
Every photo you upload goes through metadata (EXIF) stripping: GPS location and device data are removed before saving. No photo becomes public without human review and without your decision to publish the case.
5. Seismic activity monitor
The “Recent seismic activity” monitor doesn't use your IP address or any outside service to know where you are: your phone only asks Levanta for the earthquakes in the country you chose. If you choose your area or tap “Use my approximate location”, the calculation happens on your phone: the location is rounded to about 10 km and saved only on that phone (the browser's local storage). Levanta doesn't receive or record it. You can remove it from the monitor itself or by clearing this site's data in your browser. The monitor's other preferences (hiding it, keeping the line still) and the latest earthquake reading are also saved only on that phone. Earthquake data comes from public sources (EMSC-CSEM and USGS) and our server fetches it, not your phone.
6. Minors
Profiles are managed by a responsible adult. Minors' information has restricted visibility by default and we apply the best interest of the child in any moderation decision.
7. Who can see your private data
You and the people you add to your case. The moderation team sees what is necessary to verify (evidence, unit) under a duty of confidentiality. The support team can ONLY access if you expressly authorize it from your panel, for a limited time, revocable, with every action logged. Verified organizations see what is public plus the needs you choose to show.
8. Who we share with
No one. We don't sell data, we don't share databases with third parties, we don't run ads. Infrastructure providers (hosting, database, email) process data only to make the platform work.
9. Cookies
We only use necessary cookies: your session, your language and "levanta_country", which only remembers which country you want to see (1 year). It is a preference cookie, not a tracking cookie: it does not locate you, does not use your IP or your location, and is not linked to your account. Without it you see every country. You can change the country at any time, delete it with “See all countries” or from your browser.
10. Retention and deletion
You can unpublish your case anytime (it stops being visible immediately) and request deletion of your account and data through the inbox. We keep audit records for the minimum time necessary for platform security.
11. Your rights
Access, correct, unpublish and delete. Write to us through the inbox and a real person will answer.
